Celebrity Autographs - Michael Jackson, but a piece of paper

Michael Jackson died yesterday. So for the coming months there will be thousands articles, television and online dedications. Let's hear all the talking heads discuss his legacy. His fans and those who despised him (mainly his dramas personal life). So, I'll leave all that to the self-proclaimed experts.

Therefore, as a couple of young children 20 something we went to the front door for a sighting MJ. As we entered, we look to the glass elevator, where we could see it rising, with several young girls screaming worship below. Security hotel was there so that nobody had the opportunity to continue to rise. After about 20 minutes from my friend somehow found out what was on the ground. As we tried enter the elevator hotel security asked where we were going. And, as a "genius" he replied "a party of our friend Mike." He just looked at us with a smile on my corny sense of humor, and shook his head "no."

So, since luck was not with us that night especially the opportunity that decided to go to a nearby bar. After a couple of hours a few guys came over and sat next to us. I started a conversation It is one of them was in the security detachment of Jackson. He told us what a crazy night that was and was surprised how people are obsessed about MJ. Then came in his pocket and pulled out a sheet of paper with a signature. He said that since everyone was asking for autographs, he was not too uncomfortable get a reminder of his famous client. So, he asked the hotel clerk a piece of paper. The hotel clerk took out a notebook and drew a blank piece of paper. He went to MJ and waited a second chance. MJ then signed that piece of paper. Sometime in the night he became the new owner of that piece of paper security guard near intoxicated (I think it cost me a beer). The only thing I remember I was talking about MJ that he was standing near the stage behind MJ MJ and was higher than expected, and also that MJ made a humorous remark just before going on stage.

Ok, I know this is not a story so exciting because we never met the "King of Pop". But what I realized last night is that, as a distributor of the celebrity autographs, movie posters, autographs it never sold. I have been in my collection about 25 years. I always knew was there and often looked at as the organization of my office. However, this was not the acquisition by purchase of autographs typical, this was an "experience". That's when I remembered what I always thought, collecting autographs is not only a signature on a piece paper, is an "experience". This is an experience of owning a piece of history. Owning a autograph document signed by John Kennedy is not just a piece of paper, is a piece of history for all those who contributed to the human race JFK. Even a piece of DNA from these 50 year old man that, indeed, had a meaning historical, cultural and social importance.

Michael Jackson's autograph that night I acquired 25 years ago was an experience that is multidimensional. My own experience as a young 22 years old, the magic of Michael Jackson in the city of Providence MJ security detail that protected his personal contact with him. And a small piece of DNA than many believe he may have been the most incredible talent, giant of an artist of the universe had ever experienced. Cultural Michael Jackson, and social importance can be underestimated even today. Just think, almost 100 years after the death of Rudolph Valentino cultural impact is still with us, look what collectors will pay for their original memories. And Valentino does not have the worldwide appeal had MJ. I have no doubt that today 14 years old great-grandchildren will be saying about Michael Jackson.

So this piece is not MJ signed an autograph I just bought or won at auction. This is a person experience a night that was the hand of the King of Pop himself.
And I think I'll keep it.
